ROK Userfile Packer
(c) 1996 Illusion Software
*** FOR USE WITH ROK 1.02 ONLY ***
[disclaimer/legal info]
This program is guaranteed to do nothing except take up space
on your hard drive. It has been tested to death (several deaths)
on my system, and appears to be absolutely flawless. BUT if you
are exceptionally paranoid, or concerned in the least, BACK UP
your ROK files before using this for the first time. In any case,
if something gets screwed up, you can scream at me, but I'm not
at fault.
This software bears the BFS Stamp Of Approval! This means, Devon
himself approves of it, and you need not worry that some idiot
has launched a deadly game destroying utility upon the world! :)
[what do I need to do?]
Copy the ROKPACK.EXE file to your ROK directory. It *MUST* be
operated from the main ROK directory or it will halt and call
you names. ;>
*Never* use the ROKPACK program when someone is in the game.
Now, assuming you've followed the really tough instructions to
this point :) all you need to do is type ROKPACK and it will do
the rest.
[what happens next?]
Well, first the program will purge all mail that is addressed to
deleted users. Then it will proceed to pack the userfile and ensure
that all mail files are re-addressed to the proper accounts. Then
it will stop. It's done.
[anything else I need to know?]
Nope. You can run this program as often as you want, but just make
sure that there is no one in the game when you run it. BAD things
will happen if you run the packer while someone is online in ROK.
If you run it in a batch file (ie a maintenance event), then make
sure you change directories to the ROK directory before it runs.
Example
CD\BBS\ROK
ROKPACK
[what do I pay you?]
Zip. Zero. Nadda. Nil. Nothin. It's freeware. If you're happy with
the service this provides, just drop me a line in one of the various
FIDO doorgame echos, or in the ROK echo itself. Or you could send
me a note at one of these places:
Email bolan@fmlyrsch.org
Fido 1:351/236
or if highly desperate you can snail mail me at
